Tango DJ - Love for Tango Music

I am a Tango DJ and dancer originally from Switzerland, who has been living in Odense, Denmark for over 20 years. Specializing in traditional Tango Music for Practicas, Milongas, Festivals, and Marathons, I have a professional international profile. In addition to being a Tango DJ, I am also a self-employed consultant in various industries and a painter.

My love for Tango music and dance led me to make several trips to Buenos Aires, where I gained invaluable insight into what a good Tango DJ plays and what they don’t play. This knowledge, combined with my long experience as a Tango dancer, has given me a well-developed observation sense and a good feeling for the situation at a Milonga.

Being a Tango DJ that plays traditional tango music, I am known for my stability and ability to provide a safe choice when it comes to Tango music. I am also well-known for my ability to create a nice ambiance for the dancers, and for my skills in choosing the right music for the right moment. The key to my success as a Tango DJ is my ability to read the energy of the room and adjust the music accordingly. I am good at feeling energies, not only in a Milonga. I can sense a person’s mood just by being in the same room. I am always aware of the atmosphere in the room, this way I can keep the dancers on their toes and create a dynamic experience. This ability is hard to learn, its a gift to have learned it throughout my childhood. I dedicate a significant amount of time to preparation.

Tango DJ Music

I concentrate on the golden age of Tango music, as it is what experienced dancers prefer to dance to and it makes the dance more accessible for less experienced dancers. The music from this era was specifically composed for dancing, providing a unique opportunity to play with contrasting moods. I always strive to create contrast between the Tandas I choose. I love contrast in a Milonga, just as I love contrast when working on a painting. When playing music, I always try to get in contact with the dancers by looking for eye contact. I don’t like to lose my focus by talking to the dancers, but it is important for me to welcome the dancers with my energy, my eyes, and my smile.

As a Tango DJ, I am dedicated to providing a dynamic and engaging musical experience for my dancers. I understand that a piece of music that sounds beautiful may not always be easy to dance to. Not all nice music is danceable, which is why I make sure to only play music that I have personally danced to multiple times. I strive to create a creative and dynamic mix of orchestras from the mid-1930s to mid-1940s, supplementing with pieces created before and after this golden period. The golden age presents me with ample opportunities to curate DJ sets. My choice of music is not only influenced by the sense of the dance floor, but also by the physical surroundings, culture, people, and atmosphere
